Today i travelled to Norfolk to service and repair a Bernina 930 sewing machine. The problem with the sewing machine was that a cloud of smoke came out of the back whilst the owner was using it! Needles to say this is quite a scary moment and the thoughts turn to a motor that has blown up – dont panic! The culprit is a capacitor on the main PCB which has failed due to old age. This is easily rectified by opening uo the machine and removing the pesky capacitor. Whilst the machine has been opened up it is always advisable to have a full service completed to ensure years of trouble free sewing!
