I got a call out recently for a Singer 431 industrial sewing machine in suffolk. The machine wasn’t stitching properly and the owner needed my help. The machine is a good workhorse that was being used for stitching canvas and sails. After an initial inspection i found that the tension unit wasn’t releasing properly when the presser foot was raised. The unit itselflf was in pretty poor shape so i opted for a new replacement. Replacement parts are readily available for this model!
I returned a week later to replace the part and its now stitching beautifully!
