The machines get a thorough inspection and replacement of missing parts. All stitches are tested and the machines are stripped down ready for oiling and cleaning. The College had 25 Bernina Activa 220 machines and also some industrial straight stitch and overlockers. Over the course of a year i visit a lot of Schools and colleges across the UK. Its still good to see textile design alive and well! These machines have quite a hard life but with regular servicing they di the job well.
